Biography

Mike has worked his entire career in the construction industry. He began his career in 1990 as a Survey Chainman, where he started to learn the basics of civil engineering. In the ensuing years, Mr. Nieto worked as a surveyor, grade setter, operator, foreman, superintendent and finally, drawing on his extensive background in roadway and commercial construction, he created Catworks Construction in 2005. His breadth of experience in the construction industry over the past 20 years has gained him a wealth of knowledge from engineering to practical application. He has demonstrated his ability to work in the industry successfully and capitalize on his experiences from the past.

His knowledge of the construction industry and ability to operate in an adaptive manner has given Catworks a competitive advantage and has been key to the company’s success. Mike recognizes the importance of surrounding himself with quality people, and as a result has obtained a group of knowledgeable, technically capable staff that are very well versed in construction and engineering. Under Mike’s capable guidance, Catworks Construction has steadily undertaken larger, more complex projects for private companies, municipalities and federal agencies alike.

Mike was recognized as the 2012 SBA Portland District Minority Small Business Person of the Year.
