Deep Creek Bridges & Stream Restoration
Location: USDA Forest Service Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest
This project consisted of construction of a permeable road base at two locations, streambed restoration, creating log jams for bank stabilization, removal and disposal of existing CMP culverts, roadway excavation and embankment, pile driving, construction of new bridges, channel re-alignment and re-grading, placement of designed in-channel stream simulation material, seeding and mulching, and extracting whole trees. Habit improvement consisted of construction of riffles, placement of spawning gravel substrate, construction of four large woody debris structures along the banks of the new channel and on constructed terraces, floodplains to prevent erosion, and provide improved fish habitat.
